SOLD Gija Gift
by Rex Woodmore
Gloss Acrylic on Canvas. 1.0cm (D) x 30.0cm (H) x 42.0cm (W), unframed 0.1 kg
Gija Gift by Rex WOODMORE. There is a Sulphur crested Cockatoo in this famous 750 year old Gija Jumula tree. Shown in its original location of the Kimberley in Western Australia. It was a gift from the Gija people & after the longest known land journey of a living tree of this size (3200 km on a truck), it is now thriving in Perth’s Kings Park. For the traditional people of the east Kimberley the Jumulu (Boab) is a major food resource, has medicinal properties, and is also a source of water in desperate times.
