Layers of jasper and ore interlaced with blue chert. Jasper is a compact opaque brightly coloured variety of quartz commonly used in decorative carvings.Chert is also a compact rock consisting essentially of cryptocrystalline quartz. Ore, of course, is a metal bearing mineral. Inspired by an interest in our planet.
