I started painting birds in 2009 when a blogger friend wanted a portrait of her bird. Back then they were small scale and the size felt restrictive. Nowadays I paint them in grand scale with flashy flamboyant feathers with wispy brush strokes in an effort to capture their character and style. I like my paintings to captures people's hearts; to make them smile and reminisce.
My intention is not to create a photographic likeness, but to catch an emotion and soul in my painting.
This artwork comes ready to hang, with sides painted in neutral grey to match the artwork.
