I start working from photographs. But I have to be drawn to the imagery- I only choose the ones that speak to me, as I love painting character and emotion. Bird portraits for me are so pleasing! I enjoy getting lost in the details of the feathers. I choose to work directly into the canvas, no grids, no pencil drawing first, the paint flows quickly to capture the soul!
