This semi-abstract scene of a Kimberley Gorge in Western Australia was a joy to paint. Rather than using the dark red colours I usually choose for the Kimberley, I concentrated instead on the yellowing grasses that follow the wet season. I love the way the water in the gorges cuts through the landscape, originating from the distant hills. This is a happy painting of abundance after rain, with just a hint of a late storm colouring the sky.
