Inspired by a famous haiku

"on the temple bell
sleeping
a butterfly"

Presumably the butterfly will wake and fly away soon enough, as soon as the surrounding quiet is broken, making his stay on the bell a temporary rest. The impermanence of life is a constant theme in Japan. It is why the cherry blossoms are so beloved, for instance, because they remind us of the shortness of life. Just as the butterfly will be woken soon from his sleep, so will we. Perhaps woken to find out that we are that butterfly.

"Musical Chairs" portrays the frantic rhythm of modern existence, where the relentless pursuit of not missing out eclipses the pure delight of dancing to life's melody"The Kings and Their Fools" is a striking portrayal of the contemporary political landscape, where irresponsible rulers wield power unchecked, surrounded by a legion of blind followers who validate their every absurd decision. In a world where accountability is often lost amidst the chaos of governance, this painting serves as a stark reminder of the consequences of unchecked authority and blind allegiance. This painting explores the intriguing concepts laid out in a book I recently read called "Lost in Math." Reflecting on the perpetual quest for elegance and naturalness within physics, it delves into the notion that beauty often guides scientific inquiry. Physicists seek theories that possess a graceful simplicity, believing that such theories endure over time. However, the author of "Lost in Math" presents a challenging perspective, suggesting that this pursuit of beauty may impede scientific advancement. Over four decades, this obsession has hindered significant breakthroughs in physics. Despite the allure of theories like supersymmetry or grand unification, which are crafted with an aesthetic appeal, their validity remains unconfirmed through observation.
The painting encapsulates the tension between our reverence for beauty and the necessity for objective scrutiny in scientific exploration.“Selfie with Emu captures a whimsical moment, as the artist skilfully intertwines the contemporary concept of a selfie with the unexpected charm of an emu, creating a unique and light-hearted composition that prompts reflection on our connections with both technology and nature.
