These everyday objects are often overlooked along with the more humble vegetables. Painting these subjects brings with it a sense of connection to simple activities both past and present.
I begin with a sketch on paper, the composition I have in mind. Then I draw directly onto the support with charcoal, brushing this back to a faint outline. Following this I apply the paint, using colours to create shapes and contrasts, while capturing the light which brings the work together.
