This is a second original of the same subject (Marina Reflections 1 now sold) which I had to produce because I had entered the same painting in two competitions which overlapped by two days. Having lived aboard my yacht 'Prelude' in the Manly marina for several years, I came to study the reflections boats and masts make on the water at various time of the day. Breezes over the water would be distorted by the boats, forming interesting juxtapositions of relatively still water and eddies of ripples in various directions. This painting is a close up of one of those pieces of water - verging on the abstract.
