This abstraction of a woman, presents a ‘full body’ portrait with an ambiguous egg/womb/shield and pointed shape - referencing traditional portraits of men in battle dress. Her black hair/head is almost comical, she is nonetheless steadfast: the source of her power is invoked in her presence and stance however. She is earthy and provocative. The depiction of the subject could be seen as a metaphor for the dualistic realities/expectations a woman faces in society. A lot of my work explores the inner realm of the woman/female perspective. My figures are abstracted shapes, often jaunty and provocative in their nature.
