"A Year in Japan" series - Spring.
This is the seventh artwork I've created for this series, which I'm aiming to complete 12 for - one for each month. The series focuses on everyday scenes in Japan, each one featuring a lone man walking away from the viewer near the centre of the work. The style of illustration is inspired by Studio Ghibli animation.
This work is larger than the others in my series, and has a lot of fine details. The paper is Cold Pressed, fine grain, 300gsm, acid free by Daler Rowney.
This illustration shows my lone figure walking along a cobblestone laneway, past traditional Japanese style buildings. There is a forest in the distance and a cherry tree, covered in blossoms, filling a large portion of the image. This piece is reminiscent of my "Leaves in Autumn" work, which also featured a large tree on the left side, as well as a tall electrical pole.
As with each work in the series, my name is written in small black writing within the work.
