While the title reflects an explosion of colour, this piece also takes inspiration from a microscopic view of organisms or cell structures, and the way they interact with each other.

I started with the outer shapes, and was deliberate in not wanting the focal point to be perfect. Instead, the outer rectangles gradually merge into angular blocks as they make contact with one another - almost crystal-like.
