Marine Plastic Debris Conversations
Should we acknowledge what's happening in our oceans, or should we accept it as the status quo? I've always strived to leave no traces of trash in my immediate environment—my room, my home, the places I visit, and even in my future destinations. I've conveyed this message through my art for years, gathering people and motivating them to take local action.
The more I reflect on it, the more I realize that our world is filled with paradigms, making it seem fruitless to continue talking, discussing, or preaching about this issue. Instead, I've decided to focus on my actions and let them speak for themselves, in case people become curious.
The Marine Plastic Debris Summit has persisted for so long that it's become a topic worth discussing. Effecting change at the grassroots level seems more feasible than engaging with the elites above us. It's evident that we, the people, are direct victims of mega corporations. Changing our behavior is possible, but halting the elites from inundating us with trash feels like an endless endeavor with no resolution in sight.
This artwork is a collage of found and unused objects securely affixed to a perspex board, framed in clear perspex. It serves as a reminder, not only to myself but to all of us, that there is a serious issue in our oceans that warrants earnest discussion, without the need for preaching to others.
