This piece is inspired by springtime, hope, warmth and the promise of new beginnings. In walks around my Melbourne neighbourhood I constantly stop to smell the spring flowers (much to the dog's delight/annoyance depending on our location!) and absorb their colour and fragrance. Somehow this gentle act transports me to a simpler time and place.
'Big Fat Wildflowers' is a bold and colourful artwork, bringing warmth and cheer to its surrounds. The silver background shimmers in certain lights and is eye-catching itself, while allowing the actual petal colours to pop and sparkle. In fact I was tempted to call the piece 'Pop and sparkle,' but did not!
This new collection around the same theme and colour palette has been very well received - two pieces have already sold as the result of one photo on Social Media. As an artist I just go with what's in my heart at the time, so it's incredibly gratifying - even after three decades of painting - to have such affirmation for my work. Thank you for reading!
