Balgas or Grasstrees - you usually don't notice the spear that blossoms with tiny flowers. Well here is a bee's eye view of the sunlight glowing from behind. Balga is the Noongar word for these interesting plants from the South West corner of Western Australia.
As kids, we used to call the spears Kangaroo tails and if you dug around the base of the black trunk, you'd usually find a feed of Witchedy Grubs.
A very special and unique plant from Australia. They always catch the eye.
