Cookie Cutter Shark Facts:
Scientific name: Isistius brasiliensis.
Found in the ‘Midnight Zone’. (Mainly found between 1,000m and 3,700m below the surface. At night it migrates upwards to as little as 85m below the surface to feed).
Did you know? Aptly named, the cookiecutter shark’s bite leaves a distinctive, perfectly circular mark on the flesh of its victim. Their feeding method is usually parasitic, taking a bite out of the flesh its living victim before moving on!
This painting is acrylic on stretched canvas, sealed with gloss varnish. It is wired and ready to hang.
The gallery-wrapped edges of the canvas are painted, so there is no need for framing.
