Gouache on paper
Signed on the front.
The few rainy seasons that we have had in the past few years has filled the lakes to heights we had never before seen - the skies have been often filled with beautiful clouds. The mountains that roll away into the distance are a variety of colours and values. It was the mountain folds and the beautiful leaden cloudscape that spoke to me with this image that looks across Burrundon Bay at the northern edge of Lake Wivenhoe, and pokes into the curious circular rock formation that sits behind the township of Esk. The distant range in this image is the D'Aguilar Range, across Murrumba and towards Mt Mee.
This image is one of a series of 15 gouache works of the Somerset Region ('The Somerset Series') and is also reproduced as a limited edition (1/100) fine art giclée print.
