Pastel on paper
Signed on the front.
This peak on the Blackall Range caught my eye whilst taking the side road from Peachester to Woodford. The cool early Autumn afternoon shone a lemon yellow light on the exquisite landscape of the Sunshine Coast Hinterland.
Pastel is a fabulous medium for immediacy, and the bright orange paper had a good tooth to take the colour and hold it. If you look closely enough you will see the orange poking through the gaps in the pastel. The bright underpainting lends warmth to the image, and speaks to the time honoured tradition of the Impressionists, who used the method to invoke light.
This work is unframed and un-fixed (fixative dulls the work, and I do not like using it!) and is therefore delicate. Accordingly, it will be shipped in tissue paper in a roll, ready for you to take straight to the framer.
