Gouache on paper
Signed on the front.
Another Somerset view that those who travel this way would be quite familiar with. The view takes in Lake Wivenhoe across to the D'Aguilar Range at Hamon's Cove on a windy late afternoon in Autumn.
Sometimes the moon rises over the centre of this view of Lake Wivenhoe , and it is just stunning. I quite like the more square composition of this image; to my mind it has overtones of an old painting of an early colony , but when the rains have come, the land does look like parkland; like those old colonial images do. I also liked the way the lake spilt from the frame at the front... very purposeful!
This work has also been reproduced as a fine art print in 'The Somerset Series'. This image is the odd one out in the series of prints, format-wise, so it is VERY special! :)
